The digital twin – explained in 60 seconds

TAOM Process Studio Editor · BPMN 2.0
◷ a one-minute explanation, not a time promise

From process knowledge to a digital twin – in 60 seconds

First give the process its place in the company. Then connect accountability, model the flow, and keep Jira, Confluence and the digital twin current from the same source. Five steps – explained here in one minute.

Industry- and system-independent. Frequently used in SAP S/4HANA transformations, rollouts and process harmonisation – the structure itself belongs to your company, not to a vendor.

Five steps, roughly twelve seconds each – that is how long the explanation takes.

Five steps

Place it first. Model it next. Then carry it forward.

The decisive difference: the diagram does not start as an isolated file. It is given a place in the enterprise process model first. From then on TAOM knows its context, its identifier and its neighbours – before the actual flow is modelled.

Step 1 of 5

Open the enterprise model

See the existing process landscape, the end-to-end processes and the neighbouring processes.

Do not start from an empty file.
Step 2 of 5

Assign L0–L5

Choose the functional place or add it. The process identifier follows from the structure.

The process gets an address.
Step 3 of 5

Link the organisation

Connect process owner, stream, roles and RACI from the organisation.

Accountability is linked, not copied.
Step 4 of 5

Model the BPMN

Describe the flow or let the agent model it. Activities receive roles, systems and context.

Now the actual flow takes shape.
Step 5 of 5

Carry forward and keep current

Feed Jira and Confluence from the same context – and bring changes back.

One source instead of parallel upkeep.
What sets it apart from a drawing tool

The model grows out of language – the agents carry on

Other tools hand you an empty canvas and a palette of symbols. TAOM starts with a sentence: „Describe the process.” What happens next runs in stages, and each one leaves something behind in the model.

Process Agent

Flowactivities, decisions, swimlanes

Application Agent

SystemsERP components, transactions, WRICEF

Quality Agent

Assurancerisks, controls, test cases

Delivery Agent

DeliveryJira, Confluence, evidence

You stay in control: every suggestion appears as an attribute on the element and can be changed. The provenance seal inside the BPMN file records what came from an agent and what came from people – verifiable outside TAOM as well.

How it fits together

What, who and how stay separate – yet connected

The enterprise model describes what the company does. The organisation describes who is accountable. The BPMN model describes how the work runs. TAOM connects these views through stable identifiers into a digital twin.

What changes afterwards

One identity across every view

Once a process has its place, its functional identity holds across model, activity, Jira and Confluence. Separate artefacts turn into connected views of the same context.

If a process is moved later, page and issue move with it – re-parented, not recreated. History and comments remain.

Where it is used

Built independent, often used in transformations

TAOM builds on BPMN 2.0 and open formats – with no vendor lock-in. If you work with SAP today you will recognise the familiar terms; if you move on tomorrow, your process landscape stays with you.

ERP transformation

S/4HANA implementations and rollouts: processes, WRICEF objects and test cases in one place.

Process harmonisation

Several sites, one structure – differences become visible instead of asserted.

Evidence and audit

Who approved what and when – inside the model, not in a side list.

Handover of knowledge

At the end of a project the structure goes with you, not just a folder of files.

Who gains from the minute

Three roles, three reasons

Process owners

See at a glance which processes are described and where something is missing – across all projects.

Project leads

Work on the same structure as neighbouring projects. P2M means P2M everywhere, and the numbers add up.

Consultants

Explain the structure in a minute instead of a workshop – and hand it over as a whole at the end.
